This quote is at the heart of my teaching. Everyone has different strengths and these strengths do not always transfer into traditional style learning where kids show what they know through perfectly written sentences and beautiful pictures with pencil and paper. Embracing different learning styles and celebrating a variety of talents is key to enabling children to flourish.
Seriously, we are quote twins. I had that quote flagged too! I love that you apply this to your teaching style - everyone learns differently! Love it, and Happy Valentine's Day!
Oh, this is so very very true. Attending public school I did not learn to my full potential with the teaching style I was around. In fact, I remember not knowing what it meant to have even or odd numbers, so when the teacher told us to only do odd number math problems, I was really lost and did the whole page. It wasn't until I was an adult, and did more adult styled learning, that I flourished.
Lisa, this quote is so true. I know it by experience. Not only from the world as outsiders, but even from my own family. Family, World, Work, School all are factors to contribute to this judgement, but if your family is not backing up your core beliefs in a positive way you will be set up to failure anywhere until you learn how to cope - if you ever manage to do so.
SO, so true!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this quote! Einstein was amazing- and not only for his mathematical genius.
