Musings from the Mother of all Tweet Ups

Yesterday afternoon, I did my hair, put on makeup and changed my outfit three times.  It was nervous tension and excitement all rolled into one. I was getting ready to meet some fellow mommy bloggers for what is being referred to as the Mother of all Tweet Ups.  The get together included:

Amanda from Lilahbility
Bianca from Bits of Bee
Bruna from Bees with Honey
Nadia from Mama and the City
Stasha from The Good Life
Sue from Cookie's Chronicles

I have gotten to know these lovely ladies on twitter through 140 character bursts of chatter and through reading their blogs. But aside from my friend, Amanda, I had never met them in person.  As I drove to dinner, I imagined what it would be like.  I hoped that I wouldn't trip and fall as I approached the table or spend the whole night smiling with spinach in my teeth.  I am happy to report that I did not trip and if there was any spinach in my teeth, it was gone by the time I got home.  It was a great evening.  So much fun to chat with fellow bloggers about blogging and life in general.

Here are my reflections about the Mother of all Tweet Ups:

1.  Meeting people you have only ever chatted with online can feel like a first date.

2.  I do like hugs.

3.  I really need a pair of black boots.

4.  Martial arts is definitely something I would like to look into for my kids.

5.  While I think I know about blogger domains and design, I have a lot to learn.

6.  When it comes to sleep and kids, we all have our trials and it feels good to share those stories and know you are not alone.

7.  There are very steep hills in White Rock.  Remind me to never go roller blading there.

8.  When you go to a Tweet Up, you may not tweet at all.

9.  A night out with a group of women that you have a lot in common with, is not only fun, but also inspiring.

10.  How soon until we can do it again?

It is Friday and I like meeting new friends, so I am linking up this post with our lovely host Bruna and Let's BEE Friends.  Head over to meet some new friends and read some favourite posts from the past week.
Let's BEE Friends

  1. Oh, a perfect list of ten. Just as you a a perfect ten. I might sound cheesy, but it is the truth!

  2. Love it! So much fun. And I'm happy to hear about the martial arts bit. ;)

I think I was less nervous knowing you would be there than I would have been had I not known anyone. I figured if it was awkward and uncomfortable, at least I could talk to you, and you'd still be my friend! But in the end I think it was good that we were at opposite sides of the table because it gave us both a chance to get to know the others - such incredible women!

  3. Nicely done, and all so true! I can't wait to do it again soon :)

  4. I didn't mind the spinach on the teeth, that just showed confidence (joking - I would have said smtg lol).

  5. So fun Lisa! I thought I noticed some eye make-up when I popped by!

  6. Thanks. Hope you are enjoying the craziness of Christmas.

  7. Glad I didn't have spinach in my teeth. Thanks for the thoughtful gift. What's the holidays without a little chocolate and bailey's.

  8. I forced myself to not sit beside you if that makes any sense at all. Although I always like talking to you, you are right we got a chance to chat with the others. Hope you are enjoying the holidays with Ms. Lilah and D.

  9. Now I am blushing. It was so nice to meet you and I look forward to coming to your neck of the woods in the summer for a camping trip. We can play.

  10. Wow that's brave - and how fortunate you live near where you can meet so many fellow tweeps. At a tweet up though, do you actually tweet each other while you're there, or...?
PS: Run do not walk to the store and get ye some black boots. Of course! (-:

  11. We laughed about the fact that we did not actually tweet at all. The boot are on my list.

  12. What fun! You're super-lucky to have gotten to meet fellow bloggers, yay!

  13. Loved your take on the night and yes to everything you said! I had so much and can't wait to do it again. Maybe next time we can all go and visit Stasha across the border!

  14. You really learned a lot that night! Just back in Calgary, and I have to say, I really miss you guys. I hope we get to meet up again soon. SO nice to meet you Lisa and share our stories!
